Event description
Equipped with an urge to help those most vulnerable, Darkness into Light UAE is a unique voluntary initiative striving to improve the quality of life for those suffering in darkness, through the alleviation of stigma around mental health, and identification or provision of accessible, effective and appropriate support services. The Darkness into Light walk is a very special experience as it highlights the power of communities who support each other.
Mental health has been ranked as one of the most pertinent public health issues at present, evident on a global scale. The World Health Organisation has identified the rise of mental health disorders as cause for significant concern, citing the probability that current growth rate for depression, as an example, will result in it comprising 15% of all illnesses by 2020. Together, walking into the sunrise, we stand against stigma and for the promotion of hope, understanding and acceptance for the future. Join us as we walk with the rest of the world on May 11th to raise awareness for Mental Health.
As a result of the incredible support we have received from our UAE community to date, we are now able to facilitate a price reduction for this year's event so that it is more accessible to all. We would also like to encourage you to make a donation as all donations will be redirected toward sponsoring t-shirts for people in our community who may not be financially able to register for this event but wish to join us on the morning of May 11th.
