Rotterdam, NL
Event description
CycleAgainstCancer, a Rotterdam – Barcelona ride, is a non-competitive endurance cycling challenge led by Servee Palmans, covering 2,000 kilometres across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Spain.
Riding fully self-sufficiently, the challenge focuses on purpose rather than performance. It is about resilience, mental strength, and solidarity, using the power of cycling to highlight a cause that affects millions of families worldwide. This ride forms part of the wider CycleAgainstCancer initiative, which raises vital funds in support of Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health.
For Servee, the journey carries a personal meaning. In 2023, his sister Simone passed away from cancer at the young age of 53, a loss that continues to shape his motivation to ride. Through this challenge, he rides in support of cancer patients and their families, helping to improve access to treatment, support ongoing research, and provide life-changing medical care. It reflects his belief that endurance sport can be a quiet but powerful way to create impact, connection, and hope.
By cycling from Rotterdam to Barcelona, the aim is to inspire hope and show how individual commitment can grow into collective impact. This is an open invitation for fellow riders to join the journey (either partially or fully) where every kilometre ridden becomes a gesture of support for those facing cancer. Together, shared determination is turned into real progress in care and recovery. This ride invites everyone to ride with purpose, stand together, and show that no one has to face cancer alone.
We would like to sincerely thank Fons Bikes for their essential technical and mechanical support. Their expertise and dedication make these rides possible, including the CycleAgainstCancer, 21 Days | 1 Mission, challenge. Without their support, this journey simply could not happen.
