50KM DESERT ULTRA-RACE CELEBRATING THE UAE’s GOLDEN JUBILEE AT EXPO 2020 DUBAI LAKE
The world’s longest desert ultramarathon series presents a 50KM desert ultra-race celebrating the UAE’s Golden Jubilee and a 5KM dune run for the community. The event will take place on Saturday 12th February 2022 at Expo 2020 Dubai Lake in Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
It will attract runners from across the region as well as the international ultra-running elite. Each race is set to challenge competitors’ physical endurance, courage, and determination as they take on the tough desert terrain in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
Trophies and prizes will be awarded for the top 3 rankings in each race category (male & female). All participants will receive finisher medals.

The health and safety of all participants, spectators, visitors, event management and crew is our highest priority. Regarding the COVID 19 pandemic, we will follow the guidelines and protocols stipulated by the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention and Dubai Health Authority to ensure that every precautionary measure is implemented and adhered to in line with the UAE Government regulations. Adherence to the 2-metre social distancing rules, regularly sanitizing and wearing masks at all times (unless engaged in a sports activity), will be strictly enforced.

- There will be checkpoints every 8-10 KM depending on the terrain and will offer hydration, refreshments, and medical assistance.
- Highlights
- The run elevation is at sea level. The terrain is a mix of different levels of sand dunes and hard sand tracks (no mountain terrain). Each route is on varying surfaces, offering runners different challenges, across flat surfaces and soft moving sand.

Participants must follow the route as marked out by the organizers, passing at a maximum distance of 5 meters from the markers. Failing to do so may incur penalties. The course will be clearly marked approximately every 100 – 150 meters. Natural landmarks will also serve as additional points of reference. The organizers will provide briefing outlining the route conditions and there will be constant monitoring of all the runners during the race. Any participant withdrawing from the race must notify a race official as soon as possible.

- Each participant has informed themselves of the medical contraindications that may affect their participation in the Al Marmoom 50 km, absolves the race organizers (including medical and technical staff) of any responsibility for medical problems or injuries that they may incur during the event. By signing the race rules and waiver, each participant confirms that they are aware of this and agrees explicitly not to hold the organizer liable nor to claim compensation in any way.
Any runner who exceeds the maximum authorized time shall be disqualified with a DNF (Did Not Finished) and must return their bib to the steward. Any runner who arrives at a checkpoint/finish point after the deadline shall be disqualified.
